This research paper explores the psychiatric co-morbidities observed within families of individuals suffering from psychiatric disorders in underdeveloped regions of India. With a focus on both genetic predispositions and environmental influences, particularly in conflict-affected areas like Jammu & Kashmir, the study highlights familial clustering of disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Findings from both international literature and Indian data are synthesized to provide insight into diagnostic challenges, access to care, and policy gaps. The study underscores the urgent need for family-centered psychiatric evaluation, community outreach programs, and integrated mental health policies.
