Individual counselling plays a pivotal role in promoting personal insight, emotional development, and positive behavioural transformation. This chapter explores the foundational concepts and core principles that define the one-on-one counselling process. Emphasis is placed on establishing a strong therapeutic alliance, maintaining ethical integrity, and adopting culturally sensitive practices. Various therapeutic frameworks—such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centred Therapy, and Existential Counselling—are critically examined, especially in relation to addressing psychological challenges among adolescents and youth (Corey, 2017; Beck, 2011; Rogers, 1951) [8, 18]. The chapter highlights how these approaches, when applied with empathy and clinical skill, can effectively support clients in navigating identity issues, anxiety, depression, and developmental transitions. Real-world case examples underscore how individualized interventions foster resilience, strengthen coping mechanisms, and facilitate long-term psychological well-being. This work underscores the importance of evidence based, client-centred care and reinforces the transformative potential of healing conversations within the counselling relationship.
