Exploring the dynamics of individuals engaging in premarital sexual activity: A qualitative study

Abstract:

One of the most taboo topics in our society and the most avoided one is pre-marital sex because many individuals are found to be indulging in it due to peer pressure, prevalence of pornographic materials on social media. It’s even a sign of physiological changes one faces as they grow up. If not properly educated, one could be mis leaded into sexually transmitted diseases or teenage pregnancy. It has been found this is borne out of curiosity and lust, individuals do not want to wait until wedlock to experience sex.
1.    Why do Individuals engage in premarital sex despite the societal perception about sex?
2.    How does the individual engaging in sexual activities before marriage develop a self- concept?
3.    How has the media influenced the individuals to engage in premarital sex? Personal interview was conducted. The results of this study have significant implications for decoding newly emerging trends and cultural around premarital sex among today’s youth. To understand the psychology behind indulging in such activity.
It can also be evaluated to understand the other behavioural tendencies that arise with such a disconnect.
