Introduction: In recent years, mobile phone addiction has become a prevalent issue, particularly among young adults, with its potential to affect their psychological well-being. One area of concern is loneliness, which may be exacerbated by excessive mobile phone use. Despite growing interest in the topic, limited studies have focused on comparing mobile phone addiction and loneliness between male and females. This study seeks to investigate the differences in mobile phone addiction and loneliness between male and female young adults.
Objectives: The primary objectives of this study are to (1) assess whether there is a significant difference in mobile phone addiction levels between male and female young adults, (2) And also to investigate whether there is any significant difference in the levels of loneliness between male and female young adults.
Methodology: The study utilized purposive sampling to select 120 young adults from Azamgarh District. Participants, aged 20-34, completed standardized scales to measure mobile phone addiction and loneliness. To analyze the data, an independent sample t-test was used to assess differences between males and females in both mobile phone addiction and loneliness.
Result: The findings indicate a significant difference in mobile phone addiction levels between male and female young adults. Similarly, a significant difference was observed in loneliness levels between male and female, highlighting the influence of gender on both variables.
Conclusion: This study indicates that gender significantly influences the levels of mobile phone addiction and loneliness among young adults.
